*THE PHOENIX* ~ 25 JUNE - 24 JULY
This sacred firebird, known to Ancient Egyptians as the 'Benu,' was a symbol of life and rebirth. In legend this exotic bird made its nest of spices and when the sun's rays set it alight the Phoenix was burned to cinders. A few days later a new Phoenix was born, rising majestically from the ashes of the old. The main characteristic of those born in the sign of the Phoenix is the ability to create possibilities from very little. They are optimistic in the extreme, seldom accepting anything as hopeless. Usually able to find some good in even in their worst enemies, the Phoenix is remarkably resilient. They have a close affinity with nature and are often conservationists and vegetarians.
Travel has enormous appeal for the Phoenix, who usually likes secluded places. Hot climates are preferred - winter holidays are not for them. Born in the sign of the firebird, the Phoenix dislikes the cold intensely. Conversely, they can function well in even in the worst of heat waves, rushing around busily while others are sweltering. Hot or spicy foods are also a favorite for the Phoenix. Preferring to be active, general television programs or casual reading are not high on the Phoenix list of priorities. The exceptions are sport or game shows, which the Phoenix may follow with zeal.
The Phoenix has tremendous vitality. Life is an adventure for the Phoenix, although a craving for excitement may lead to trick situations. Always eager for new experiences, and ready to rise to the challenge, the Phoenix life is full of surprises. So much do they endeavor to fill their lives with excitement, sometimes they forget about the smaller, more practical matters of life. Others may be content to wait for opportunities to arise; Phoenixes will create their own. Indeed, they consider it their personal responsibility to seek out new and interesting possibilities.
POSITIVE CHARACTERSITICS
Resilient, optimistic, and determined, the Phoenix has an inventive and adaptable personality. They are industrious and highly active, with the ability to find new uses for the most unlikely things. Technically gifted regarding the crafts, the Phoenix has a conscientious attitude to work. There is a strong tendency to champion the plight of the unfortunate, and an enviable power to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in others
NEGATIVE CHARACTERISITCS
The Phoenix has a stubborn streak. They prefer to do things their own way - even when they know they are wrong. Often a dreamer, the Phoenix may refuse to face reality when problems occur. Too much time is spent on failed endeavors when the best course of action would be to move on to something else. The Phoenix is often headstrong and occasionally egotistical.
APPEARANCE
Those born in this sign often have a determined appearance. Their intense eyes are extremely attractive to the opposite sex. The Phoenix's nose is usually sharp, although the chin tends to be round. Weight is seldom a problem: an abundance of nervous energy generally keeps the Phoenix slim and agile. Many born in this sign have a cheeky demeanor. Phoenix men may have a rugged look, while the Phoenix woman often has a mischievous smile.
HEALTH
The Phoenix usually enjoys good health, although skin complaints may be a problem. More often than not, this is the result of stress. Diet is seldom a cause of concern for the Phoenix. They can eat almost anything without detriment. Back problems may be in evidence due to a tendency to stoop. The Phoenix is a symbol of vitality and those born in this cycle are usually trim and fit.
