Fragile Rose
You were a flower upon a dusty mound,
Trapped within our bleak surrounds.
The sole survivor in the summer heat,
And here, by fate, we meet.
I looked within your petal folds,
And glanced upon the beauty it holds.
As I held you close to me,
The sun beamed for all to see.
I was saddened as you stole away,
Hoping you would be back someday.
Now I stare up into the night,
And wait again for the light.
I see you as you stood and turned,
In my mind the image has burned.
Thinking how my lips met yours,
Whispering good bye as you close the door.
Remembering how you were inside,
Hoping the beauty hasn't died.
I am left dreaming of your eyes,
That lone flower upon a rise.
The sole survivor of the summer heat,
Will again, by fate, we meet?
Thinking deep as the cold winds blow,
That dusty mound and my fragile rose.
