Trying to keep him is like grabbing a fistful of sand
Taking handful of water, keeping the waves on the land.
The harder I try the more of him escapes leaving only the smallest taste.
A residue that eventually fades.

But if I come to him open hands and no expectations
My heart breaks a little more each day as he falls away
Grain by grain, drop by drop, day by day.
