We cut off the hands and feet of Gorillas to sell on the black market. We slaughter an elephant to harvest the tusks, also known as "ivory gold" or "white gold". We kill exotic cats and furry creatures alike for their coats. And for what? So some stuck-up, spoiled, rich bitch(who has likely never had to work a day in their life), can get what they want, once again, no matter the cost.
This is called poaching. Its illegal.
And yet, just off the gulf of Newfoundland, the barbaric act of skinning a -conscious-, 12 day old seal infront of its mother, or bludgeoning it to death, is perfectly fine. People like me, who are opposed to this, who scrutinize the Seal Hunt, would be called terrorists. If this is the case, I'm proud to be a terrorist.
We put millions of dollars into the hunt. The same money that could be put into bettering our health-care, or education systems. We send out an ice-breaking barge every year to clear a path so that these soulless imbeciles, also known as poachers, can either take a club and beat their defenceless prey to death, or skin it alive. And they say they're just keeping our history alive. History they say! Our history used to be about people who would hunt for -survival-. They would kill an animal, skin it for clothing, eat it, and use what was left as fuel for a fire. And now? We kill for sport. We kill for money. We kill because, in Canada, we can.
Canada seems to be becoming nothing more than a contradiction. Cruelty to pets, such as dogs, cats, cows, etc is illegal. But its okay for us to beat an animal to death, its okay to put an animal through so much torture, that if it could speak, would beg for death. All this is okay as long as it doesn't belong to somebody? They cant use the same excuse as they do for deer, that with an over-population of the species, food would grow scarce, and they would die off from starvation. This cant happen with seals. Seals eat all kinds of fish, fish that wouldnt grow scarce if we didnt over-fish the waters due to greed. Whales eat seals - therefore controlling the population problem. With more seals in the waters, whales would multiply, would become adapt to the waters of Canada. More whales in the water, would mean more tourists coming to Canada to go whale-watching, therefore bettering our economy.
Am I the only one to think this far ahead?
When I sit and contemplate everything that has happened in our world lately, makes me wonder, has humanity come to a brutal end? Are we going backwards on the path to evolution?
