Alright, I figured I may as well write a tale. It'll give visitors something else to thumb, hopefully. Originally, I wasn't sure what to write about. From the title, I really felt like it should actually be a story. A story takes a long time to write though, especially one worth other people's valuable (or not so valuable...I mean, c'mon, it's freakin' FaceBook) time. Someone else suggested I just write lyrics...which I would, but, usually, when I'm that into a song, I'm too busy listening to the actual song to bother typing anything. Thus, I came up with this idea.
You see, I've gotten almost all my points from random profile searches. You know, the pissy little 5pts you get for viewing a new profile every 24hrs. Yeah, that's it. I do a lot of those random searches. It gets me points and sometimes shows me some interesting people. Well, I was doing that again just a little while ago when I decided to try some other locations, like Israel, Turkey, Spain, so on. I also tried Sweden and Switzerland. Now, this may sound a bit weird but...I was really amazed at the ratio of Asians in Sweden and Switzerland, lol.
I'm American, so for those living elsewhere that read this, forgive me. I tend to think a bit more highly of my place than is always the case. It's not so much that I think less of you or your country...I just think mine's better, heh. Anyway, one of the things that always seems "American" to me is the fact that there really isn't an "American" stereotype...at least, not for looks. Yes, there's the personality complex of arrogance, recklessness, ambition, and tenacity (most of which is over-rated). But, when I think of American, I don't really think of any particular group...I don't think of a white guy, a black brother, a latin chica, or an asian nerd...I just think of a mass of people. That doesn't apply to other countries though, at least not my initial imagination of them.
When I think of most European countries, especially Switzerland and Sweden, I think of the Arian ideal...blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin. Granted, I know there are going to be some exceptions; there are always exceptions. Still, I don't think of Asians as living there, much less in the ratio HP presents. Seriously, for every three clicks of a Swedish or Switz profile, there was a new Asian. I was dumbfounded.
Yes, it sounds a little shallow and completely lackluster. What can I say? I just found it very interesting. I pride myself on being very...for lack of a better term, aware. Seeing such a drastic difference than the expectation...it threw me. I liked it though. It reminds me that I've more to learn...and actually gives me a reason to keep learning. Anyway, there's my first tale.
