On Boxing Day (2007), I went out and had a generally quite good night, right up until the end. Some bastard nicked my jacket. This can't have been because it was valuable as it wasn't leather, it had holes in the pockets, and it had buttons missing. It wasn't designer, it wasn't made of a particularly fancy material like goretex, it was just a waterproof thing. I've had an expencive leather jacket nicked before, and that really pissed me off, but this time someone presumably stole my jacket because it was cold and raining outside and they didn't have anything waterproof with them.
Consider the situation this put /me/ in though. My walk home wasn't long, but it was very cold and wet. Here my story takes a turn, however, as I walked past a guy with a big golf umbrella and said "What I wouldn't give for /that/ right now, my jacket was nicked!"
Now I just walked past, I wasn't expecting him to offer to sell it to me or anything, much less give it to me, but giving it to me is exactly what he did! I wasn't really expecting that, and said my flat was only a few minutes away, but he insisted I take it for nothing.
