Bye Bye Birdie
So yesterday, my car broke down so I had to drive it from campus and take it to the shop a few blocks down from my house. This really sucked because not only did my poor baby start to smoke and smell on the way there, but the smoke made me really sick and the smell seeped into my clothing... not to mention the car guys told me it was going to cost me $400. Which I certainly don't have.
On the way home, I took the back alleys and found an injured bird flopping around right behind our house by doing so. At first I thought "well there's someone having a worse day then me, better help the poor thing out" then, I thought it must have been fate, because this was maybe the third time I had ever walked that alley in my 2.5yrs of living here, and a bird just 'happened' to be there.
So, me and my roommate set up a nice little home, fed her, gave her water and randomly pet her (for being a wild bird, she sure liked being stroked, and she never once bit us). We'd already been warned by the people I was going to take her to today that Cardinals are the worst for surviving such stress, but I was hopeful...
Then this morning, everything was going great, she was looking better and was chirping again... but not 30mins after giving her a drink / feeding her, I went to check again, and she was dead. It was just so sudden.
I know it's stupid, but I can't help feeling very sad over losing this small Cardinal, whom we only called Birdie, as to try and not get attached. We buried her in the yard with the twig she liked still in her little beak... she liked that thing enough to have died while still apparently chewing on it.
Anyways, that's enough from this sentimental fool.
R.I.P. Birdie. I hope your in a better place now.
