There is hope for a PhD yet..seems like one of the profs would still like to work with me, it is just going to be hard to get into the Cali school. Thinking about moving out there next year..anyone know how long it takes to establish residency?

Dang Schools!!
Two schools denied my application and one was my top choice! Bahhh!! The top school just said it was because there was not a professor available, so that could be ok and I can probably apply again in another year... but that also might be the polite way of saying that I suck and am not good enough for their school. Who knows? Hope the other schools are not as dumb as these guys!
