How is it that you can feel guilty when you know you did nothing wrong?

Why is it so hard to tell the truth to the ones that know and care about us most and so easy to spill the truth to people we barely know?

Sometimes I remember the darkness of my past
Bringing back these memories I wish I didn't have

Telling the truth should feel good right? Well I feel like crap now for telling the truth. I know I shouldn't feel bad about it but I do. I guess what I should really be feeling bad about is for doing the things that made the truth what it is. I don't feel good about what I did but I've already put it in the past. Now that I've let it out I hate seeing how it has affected those involved. It really makes me regret telling it.
