sounds of sleep humming
moonbeams thrumming with desire
i am here waiting
for the moment, waiting,
for waves of sleep to come near
they break away till light of day
eluding my every snare
pixies all of the dreamlands call
but I do not hear.
I yearn for release
into that time
when lustrous dreams inhabit my head
all cares and worries do disappear
and i am free of daytimes pleas
to no avail, i do sail
into the dreamlands mists.
yet I do not drift into slumber's port,
the island always out of reach.
I am forever here,
a woman forgotten by the nightly tide.
