Beauty

a ruby sphere
dances casually
across the afternoon sky
teathered by a string
attached to a special offer
it bobs and twirls
trying to free itself
from its gentle captor
but if it ever were to be free
it would gradually rise
so all would see its glory
before bursting suddenly
and falling back to earth

Ringing

I can't help but feel like I had a dream last night
and I dreamt that I was happy
or at least I think I was happy
I don't remember much of it
but I awoke with such a stong sense of feeling
such that I had experienced something incredible
and I know it sounds cliche' but I think I was kissing someone
someone soft
and the kiss was slow and redeeming
full of someting spectacular
there were no broken steps, no jackhammers
just us, breathing into each other
keeping each other sustained
meaning has no purpose
I just wish I could remember it
or at least go back for another night
because I know it wasn't real
but I have no problem pretending

Pens, Hens, and Automoblies

(life, like a photograph
is ruined if it is
exposed during development)
suck down your lemonade
and breath in your candies
they'll make you sweet
and edible; juicy and ripe
people will come to take bites
from you; juice dripping from their
cheeks. some will take just a nibble
others will fill their mouths with you
hoping to digest something meaningful
you will be invited to birthdays,
and all will rejoice that they've
tasted you again.
you will see children licking
their fingers of you
and parents wiping you off
their pudgy bastard childs' faces
you may want to play
but that is not good
you'll learn to change
everyone will stick up for you
take a stand for the (big) man
but secretly they still
crave your sweet flesh
until there is nothing left
to swallow.
(there are only two real reasons that a
chair would ever be sitting under a tree;
and one has nothing to do with shade)

Shooting Stars

I want to live life in slowmotion.
I want an ugly wife with
a mind that doesn't quit.
I want the last step of the day
to be the most important.
I wish for happiness
all the time wondering
if Orion's pants will collapse
around his feet when one
of his belt loops dies,
and fizzles northward.
