To You: My Warrior
To you, my baleful warrior
Upon my sinful angel’s wings
Tomorrow the world begins again
But the twilight of today begs elucidation
Now’s not the time for self indulgence
Let us reminisce on the early hours
Where the sun made vulnerable the quintessence of night
And the whispers of ignorance gave way to light
For you, my timid warrior
Were an unforeseen lightning strike
A pleasant mockery of my acquaintance
Of matters of the heart
For you, my tender warrior
Took my hand
Seized my being
Only to put a match on it
My former self engulfed in your fire
For you, my amorous warrior
Allowed my vestal hands
To mend your broken armor
Your ruined heart
As I returned it you knew
“A piece of this” you whispered to me
“Will remain with you”
Our lips touched
Do you remember my warrior?
And the world was under water
We parted, they gasped for air
As I had
And with the seasons shift, my dearest warrior
The colors of autumn, the crystals of winter
A spring fresh
And suddenly
I tasted sunlight in summer's end
The seasons of you and I coming full circle
And I’m sorry to say, my troubled warrior
That I could not save you from the battle that raged
Since before my time
For you see my disheartened warrior
It takes place not in a land unknown
But inside of you
You crumbled before me
As I lay at your feet
And I, my fallacious warrior
Could not spill your blood by the afternoon’s end
As you had mine
Oh, my treacherous warrior
I see the nightfall is breaking light
Yet I cannot repair the wounded sky
As I had once before
I will be brief
For heaven won’t have me
And hell is too just
My sinister warrior, you must know
Tears don’t fall, they escape my grasp
Even they should not be sentenced
To be entombed inside myself as I am
So do not take my hand
Take these words
Tell our tale so others may learn
Our story caught between pages two and three
Hurry, somewhere it is still lurking
For the memories fade faster than photographs
At least in the case of you and I
Even now as the sun embraces my pale complexion
I leave you with a trail of remarkable masks
All I have worn
In hopes you will leave yours behind
Although the light shines bright
I disappear from your iris
You, my tragic warrior
I, your fallen angel
