Dear Brian: My greatest respect for armed forces. Actually I like you. But I am a 45 year old man and I have enough stress in the real world to have to deal with stress online. If the ball is in my court, I'm punting. True Nancy is a wonderful person, you are a lucky guy. But I am not going to play this app when people go back and fourth between this is a game and this is sacred. Thanking you again for your service. -Michael
Michael, understand you ran a tad afoul of my setter. Terrible shame that, but I usually ask Yurii to watch after my favorite and active pets in my absences to ensure they get the caring attention they deserve while I'm off in places with less than sporadic internet coverage.
Had you simply asked me (or Yurii as my proxy) all of this nonsense could have been easily avoided. I would have in turn asked Nancy if she desired a new owner, however such was not the case. So when you purchased Nancy, Yurii quite dilligently pursued the manner in a gentle fashion, pointing out my unavoidable absence and her duties in a logical, forthright, and quite gracious way.
Unfortunately things kind of went downhill from there...and that's regretable. Nancy is a wonderful person and it's sad to have placed her in the middle of a squabble. She deserves a pedestal of her choosing.
You're quite right, this is a game...much like other ownership games, but it has a subtle nuance about it which make it far unlike "coolest person" or "hotties for sale". It's much more in depth and a touch more personal. So while the other games are derived to make points by trading on perceived attractiveness this one thrives on a culture of fostering friendships and has drastically divergent dynamics than all of the rest. Lots of people take ownership responsibilities here quite seriously...and many are far more adversely reactive than Yurii describing you as a feminine hygene utensil when their pets are purchased without a warning or a hihowdoyado.
The question is how do we breach this impasse? I'm rather attached to Nancy as a pet. She and my flock are some of the most wonderful spirits I've had the pleasure of knowing. I can understand your desire to want to own. But at this time I am loathe to let my pets go, I value their company far too much.
You're perceptive in saying all's fair in love and war. I unfortunately have seen both up close and personal. I'm not 100% sure this counts in either catagory. It's a virtual social network where people meet new and wonderful folks from around the neighborhood to around the globe. Hopefully you won't regard it as war...I've seen enough of that to know I don't want any more of that.
