Arson and a Suicide

He carries the can of gasoline into the house
He looks at afar from the place he once knew
The bright walls of red and blue no longer hold their hue
They all fade to grey
The man prays to a god he knows isn..t there
But he checks one last time
As he walks up the stirs that grudgingly hold his frame
He has tried to forget but time heightens his pain
He glances at the can, his gallons of liquid hope
And breathes in the toxic fumes
He goes to the room upstairs
Where it all first began and he sits in the center staring out the window
Then he begins to cry, uncontrollable sobbing into his hands
Until he dries his tears with shaking and shivering hands
Much work is left to be done
He unscrews the cap and watches it pour to the floor
It spreads out from the center until it reaches the door
He watches as it soaks into the room
Absorbed by the wood that has retained his pain for so long
He walks out of the room
His relief flowing onto the floors behind him
Down the stairs and out the door
Into the gloom
He stares at the stars the spelled out his doom
And lights a match
To chase away the dark that lies around him like a fog
And surrounds his heart with a mist that never goes away
He notices that the day has begun to come
The match drops from his hands
The fiery trail brings joy into his hardened heart
As it races into the house on it..s path of destruction and ruin
He stands and watches beneath his favorite tree
As the flames slowly rise to meet the rising sun
Then he palms the metal in his pocket
Feeling its power in his hands
As he pulls it out and blows his pain away

Flying high above the world
Watching the clouds and the squirrels
As they go about their day
The clouds float and the squirrels run
But they both get their objective done
As they go along their way

The world moves round
The earth dipping up and down
But they easily take each change
As they wait for their life to get full
For soon they will feel the irresistible pull
To let their bodies return to the ground
But they still drift easily around
Until their final drop

The sun drops and the moon rises
But never fails to surprise
The ones who dread their demise

They hurry to do their chores

He was born on the streets
And lived on his toes
He knew the hiding spots
And all the little black holes
He dealt his pot until his fingers grew cold
Then he moved on to snow
They're higher than they've ever been
But he's always low

She followed him home
Like a rat finds trash
