(Change Direction)

The ground was finally beginning to warm beneath the young cub's paws as the distant suns rays flooded over the horizon, bringing life and color back into the land. The day looked as though it might be forgiving with patches of clouds laying scattered and lazily across the African sky, and with any luck, the lion cub would find the mercy of one of the acacia's he saw in the distance. Loving adventure and exploring had gotten this small one into trouble many times. Peril was no stranger to his growing legacy but as time moved on he found himself willing to venture further and further from home. To do so alone and so young still was not the wisest thing to do yet he felt driven many times, such as these, to step out into what lay beyond his land.
Nearby, a small family of hyrax's scurried out of sight of the cub, who was now making his way to a nearby stream. Though the day was not yet set to try and steal from him his strength, he thought it couldn't hurt to take a moment to enjoy a cool drink of water. Coming to a stop at the edge of the small trickle of liquid winding it's way through the landscape, the small cub leaned over and lapped a few times at the stream, taking just enough in to wet his maw. Sitting up again, he curled his tail around his paws and peered out across the plains, curious as to what he might discover here.
Simba closed his eyes and took a moment, while he sat there, to just take in the feel of the place he had found himself. He often wondered if adults ever took the time to just enjoy what was around them. Come to think of it, he should probably be wondering if other cubs did so. His circumstances in life had required him to grow up on the inside far faster than he or any other cub might normally have otherwise. And to be honest he wasn't sure if he was grateful or not at times for his ability to keep up. No matter, he didn't need to trouble himself with the myriad thoughts that normally kept his attention. For now all he wanted to do was explore, something he was both very good at and very behind in. Uncurling his tail from around his paws he opened his eyes and started off for the acacia he had spotted. As he made it closer he suddenly broke into a playful bound and made it to the tree in no time. No sooner had he arrived, however, he saw another lion there.
The smile on his face quickly changed into one of instant caution and his movements were dropped to a near-silent pace. From what he could tell the other lion was asleep, for which he was grateful. Venturing off so far was grand and all but sometimes he forgot how risky it was for him to do so. With quiet steps he circled around to get a good look at the other male. Most of his life had been spent around adults, a fact that also owed to his quickened awareness at such a young age, and so to find himself around them wasn't too unnerving. That didn't change the fact that he felt it wiser to err on the side of discretion at the moment.

The morning sun brought an end to another uneventful hunting night for Roshaun, a nomadic, older-adolescent male lion, whose medium-light brown mane crowned his stately face, which was completed with stunning blue eyes. Many nights left him hungry as hunting was a real challenge for a single lion and the night had ended the same way. The effort of another bad hunt left him exhausted and longing for a place for him to call his bed for the day. Yet the daytime was as unkind to him as the night, since he is was a wanted lion. His effort to sleep and regain his strength was always strained by his efforts to keep an eye out for his foes. Despite the attention needed to be paid for possible dangers to himself, Roshaun could not resist the temptation of the shade of the nearest bush or tree. An acacia provided the sweet relief from the morning sun, which warned of a hot day.
Having found a comfortable spot, Roshaun decided to lay down to rest a bit before satisfying his thirst for water from a nearby stream. The chirping of the birds, rustling sounds of other nearby animals, and the soft hush of the stream soon ran together as he passed out under the loving shade of the acacia tree not even realizing that a cub had bounded in his direction.

The lioness had turned her sights to Roshaun, who seemed very anxious since she was a beautiful sight to behold. The perfect lioness in every way. As she came closer, Roshaun seemed to go numb with disbelief of the sight of her. The clouds around them accented her beauty and as she walked forward he could hear the soft sound of grass being stepped upon. But wait! You're not suppose to hear the crunching of dry grass in the clouds! Where was he?

The morning sunlight hit Roshaun's eyes like a monsoon flash flood. The light blinded everything to him, that is everything except the silhouette of a good sized animal. The silhouette stepped back in shock, but it wouldn’t get the jump on Roshaun. He took one hard and swung blindly at the intruder as he leaped to his feet. Simba was barely out of reach of the lions feeble attempt, having had the knowledge to step out of Roshaun's reach in time.
The lion lost his balance and fell backwards over a protruding root having tried, quickly, to find his target before he became the one on the defense. He spotted his enemy but it didn't take long for him to realize that his adversary was a cub. Not who he was expecting but Roshaun quickly relaxed at finding a cub that represented no immediate threat to him. But who was he and where did he come from?

Mosi was walking in the long savannah grass heading toward the stream he had used there a couple of days ago as he had stalked by in search of prey. He thanked Aiheu, for giving him a talent for hunting, and his parents, which had helped him hone his skills, otherwise the cheetah wouldn't have survived a week out in the strange new world.
He had walked around for at least a month now, searching for the right place to settle down, and had began to walk around in different areas. Once or twice he had had to use his speed to get away from a pride of lions, whom didn’t want him snooping around.
He was thinking of staying there for awhile since it had seemed like a good place, especially since it was pretty easy to hide among the tall grass that grew around him.
As he got closer to the stream he saw what appeared to be a little lion cub and a lion, the lion seemed to be asleep and the cub was slowly circling around the lion in the shade of an acacia. He considered waiting a bit to see if they were going to disappear but as he was very thirsty he cautiously crawled closer and closer before walking again towards a bit of the stream fairly far away from them, so he could run away incase there was trouble. While he lapped up the cool clear water he eyed the duo suspiciously and started to relax, since neither of them had seen him, when he heard the sound of the older lion as he tripped over the gnarled roots of the acacia. He Hoped he could get out of there soon but he looked towards the lions just to see if they had noticed yet.

Simba couldn't believe how fast the lion, that he had been circling, was when he went from a state of sleep to that of trying to attack causing the cub to leap into the air startled. He kept his footing in such a way as to not get hit, though it was certainly a challenge to do so. Later he would look back and wonder why he hadn't just run off instead of staying within such close range to such an obvious threat. Perhaps that was why he hesitated to leave altogether, the threat was not borne of hostility, that he could see, only the disorientation of waking up roughly. Not that his hide would have known the difference had he been hit.
His posture in the end left him crouched low to the ground and looking up at the adolescent male. The difference in size was remarkable, as lions went through an amazing transformation from being a cub to a full grown lion in the course of only a few short mont

Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the lion’s face who glared at the human in front of him. Winds forcefully blew at his mane, revealing a scar. A scar that sat between his black-rimmed eyes that would haunt any who look too deep into them. The human swung his spear at the lion with such speed that a cheetah would stand and take notice, but the lion was quicker and had grabbed at it with his muzzle. With a swift motion the lion was thrown away from the human and then rebounded off a boulder. In quick succession the lion leapt at the human with full force in an attempt to do more than knock him down but the human was too strong. Every time the lion would attack the human would counter. They were both tired but neither showing any sign of weakness to the other.

From down at the base of the cliff a lioness looked up. She lay on the ground bruised, her eyes black from battle, trying to get up only to fall down again. In fear she watched the two combatants as they neared the ledge overlooking oblivion. Mustering up what strength she had left, she rose from the ground and staggered her way up the mountain to what would surely be the last time.

Blood trickled down the lions face stinging his eyes. The human, who was in no better condition, breathed heavily his face showing the devil himself. Fury and rage consumed the human giving him even more strength. As the lion leaped again at him he swung his spear knocking him away and into the wall of the mountainside. The lion couldn't move. All he could do is look up in desperation; the weapon swayed back and forth, seeming to blur into nothingness. Closing his eyes he waited for the inevitable blow that would end his life. But as the human raised his spear for the final strike a lioness leapt at him and knocked him over the cliff. In a desperate attempt he dragged her with him, leaving the lion to watch in sadness as he struggled to take in deep breaths. Then with one final breath he collapsed, letting the world around him fade into darkness.
