About me:
I'm just myself. I like who I am. I'm a mother, a teacher and a wife. I love music, especially rock. I live to learn and read (history, archaeology, religions, science fiction). I don't mind questions, so ask if you've a mind to...*smiles*

About you:
I came here because a friend sent a link, I stayed to make friends. I am drawn to honesty, honor and integrity. Actions should match deeds. Wit and intelligence and the wisdom to use them well. A sense of humor is a requirement with a touch of humilty.

Hello Friends, I've managed to take a hiatus from humanpets and really look at all the important needs in my life versus my wants. Number one need...my family and friends. When you don't have them, there's a huge void in life that draws on all around it to fill it...but like eating chinese food, if its not what your body needs, you're still hungry an hour later. I'm around, just not in here daily like I was before. Forcing myself to go out and actually take care of RL which is healthier for me. Hope you're all doing well and will be dropping notes on your pages so you know that you're still thought of and cared about. *HUGS*

I am so grateful for you my friends...your love, caring and support :) To answer a few questions, my husband is currently at mobilization and deployment at Ft. Bliss. His group will be the last processed and sent to Iraq by September. In the meantime he is not allowed off base, nor does he have enough time to do more than a quick call during the days. :) I live for early morning and late evening calls before he has to rush to formation. This will be his second tour in Iraq and its harder to let go the second time and I guess I worry more. So I meditate daily and send all the good thoughts I can muster. Some days are harder than others, but as the saying goes, "this too shall pass." We'll all be together as a family in a year and I keep that thought firmly in my mind. Blessed be, my friends :)

With my husband going off to Iraq, July 4, our American day of independence has deeper meaning. Not only our soldiers, but those who stay behind and offer support to their men and women who serve our country are patriots. We may be arrogant and downright imperialistic, as a history teacher I can see that truth well enough, but we are as individuals honorable and loyal and steadfast. Politics muddies the waters and then our military is sent in to reach a compromise that is no compromise. For those of us that await and hold down the family while our loved one is upholding their oaths to our country I say this July 4th is for us. We are patriots and hold the hardest duty, waiting and hoping and knowing that no matter what may come, we must be strong and carry on. Blessed be. Huah!

Lifted this from my owner Thumbelina :) 1. Grab the nearest book. 2. Open the book to page 123. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the text of it and the next 3 sentences on your tales along with these instructions. 5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest. Shanol Etool had spent plenty of time wondering if he'd made a huge mistake taking a Change to orca form. Admittedly, after the Fall it was easier to survive as a Changed Orca; knowing how to climb out of the water carefully and get back in just as carefully had yielded more than he could eat of seals. On the other hand, an almost continuous diet of raw fish and marine mammals palled quickly. He might have starved in the Dying Time if he hadn't changed, but while hunting dolphins for sport was one thing, eating them raw was another. .....from Emerald Sea by John Ringo

This joke was in general and I couldn't help but steal it and put it here ...made me laugh :D A man hails a taxi, and gets inside. "5th and Main, please." "You again?" says the taxi driver. "This is the 4th time I've dropped you and your wife off at work." "Really? My wife doesn't work." "Yes, she does. I drop her off there everyday, about an hour after I drive you to work." "There?" "Behind the Tillman & Lane department store." "Interesting," says the man. "Tell you what. Pick me up in two hours, and I want you to show me where my wife works." So two hours later, the taxi arrives and takes the man to whorehouse behind Tillman & Lane. "Hold on," said the driver. "I'll be right back." There's a huge commotion after the driver goes in, with cursing and screaming and the sounds of breaking furniture. The driver comes out with a woman in a headlock. "That's not my wife!" exclaims the man. "I know. She's mine. I'm going back in for yours."
