"Needs to update his profile. Whoops. Now in Lexington, for starters..." |
About me:
This section will soon be completely re-written -- see latest tale for how it was for the past four years or so.
|
About you:
*** This will also be updated. The wording strikes me now as being unnecessarily negative and pessimistic, but it still holds more or less true. ***
People capable of restoring my somewhat waning faith in humanity, especially in Americans.
But anyone, really (whereever you are).
I am off the market, both in real life, and on Human Pets. My owner is my girlfriend, and I am my girlfriend's owner. We met on here, and intend to stay active on here.

There are shop boys, and there are boys who just happen to work in a shop for the time being. And trust me Tristan, you're no shop boy. --Yvaine, to Tristan, in Stardust (2007)

I'm putting my old About Me summary here for posterity. It's about four years old now and needs to be updated, but I figure I might like to look at it later and reminisce on how I viewed myself and my life back then. I'm Dan, I wait tables at TGI Friday's. I love my coworkers, we are like family, and we tend to hang out in packs. I LOVE TO SING. Been doing it all my life. Go out to karaoke at local bars on an irregular basis. I don't wait for that, though. I am comfortable singing randomly in public, especially while I'm working. I have a fairly positive outlook on life, I am big on "making your own happiness," and it usually takes more than a little to ruin my good mood. Always making jokes, sometimes (okay, often) dirty ones. Innuendo. My personality is... somewhat random. I can easily flip back and forth between very serious and totally wild. Not like bi-polar, just know when to be calm and serious, and when to cut loose. I think I'm rather mature for my age, socially, and yet my behavior, when I'm comfortable, can drop into the toddler years. I hate cigarrette smoke. I HATE mood swings, and when people treat others according to their own mood, rather than by that individual's treatment of them. I don't hold grudges, I'm not petty, I loathe gossip... and I hate when people build walls around themselves. It screams of insecurity, and we all just need to suck it up and overcome our fears. I tend to measure things, actions, and people in terms of love and courage. (influences from 1'st Corinthians ch. 13, and Ocarina of Time, respectively) I really enjoy outdoor activites, I just don't make enough time for them, or often have people to join me. My favorites are skiing, snowboarding, and swimming. I still enjoy video games, but I don't go out of my way for them the way I used to. Breaking the (lifelong) addiction to them, I suppose. I'll never stop using, though. :D Love reading a good book. (Harry Potter, 6 hours at a time) Crikey, I better quit here, or no one will have any reason to actually talk to me! lol

Oh my gosh, it seems people are actually starting to stir on this site again! My profile picture and description are OBSCENELY out of date. If people are gonna start hanging out and talking again, I'll update those. I'd love just to have pen pals and maybe more amongst new friends... at least just check in on each other and be like "hey, how's your life going?" I used to get advice and different perspectives from people, and I loved it when i could provide the same. Here's to reviving the Human Pets community!

Congratulations, America, on repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." No human being should have to hide who they are! When Bill Clinton put it into effect, it served as a step forward for our armed forces. Things have changed over the past 17 years, and now -I believe- repealing it was the right decision for our time. We have decided that we will take a stand against intolerance and abuse, rather than merely avoiding the possibility of giving homophobes a reason to act out. As for those who think this creates more problems than it solves, I say this: Sexual harassment is sexual harassment no matter who it is; straight, gay, male, female-- anyone can be guilty or be a victim. The details vary, but unwanted advances should be dealt with the same, no matter who is involved.
