Today felt warmer, but the wind gusts were 45 mph! Tomorrow is supposed to be a warmer day still. I brought the work van in to get a back tire fixed and it ended up being three new tires and other repairs totaling over $750! I called my boss FIRST before the repairs were made, of course. I sat there for three hours waiting for it to be repaired. They had really old magazines and no t.v., so it was pretty boring watching the traffic go by. ha ha Tomorrow is my day off and it will again be spent cleaning the house and getting some yard work done. I am going to make a cake tomorrow and some bread.

I ordered some new clothes for summer and a new pair of sneakers. I love the Rocket Dogs and others with no laces, but elastic instead? I just thought I would try something new for a change. They are pretty neat looking and the colors are fantastic! The river is rising a little, but not up to flood-stage yet here. We are watching it closely! Things are going great for us and my husband is going on his annual turkey hunting trip this weekend and part of next week. Hope he bags a nice turkey this year! Take care my friends and thanks for all your kind thoughts. Have a wonderful night!

The wind howled all night and today it's rough out there! I stayed home from work and so did my husband. The winds are 30+ mph. and gusts even higher and the snow is coming down steady. Heard on the scanner with all the wrecker calls from people going in ditches around the area. I called in and then my boss called me back to tell me everything was covered for two days! How nice hey? So, I don't have to worry if it's still bad tomorrow about going in anyway. He was at work today, but everyone left early because of the storm. He HAS to be there to answer phones etc...poor guy. I know the trip there this morning was a "white knuckle ride" for him. So much for Spring? *Grin*

A major snowstorm is moving into the UP by 5 a.m. tomorrow morning with winds gusting to 50 mph! I am really looking forward to driving in the morning. haha It is always an adventure driving through whiteouts to work. I am a Yooper and we are known to be good winter drivers, but it's the "other guy" I worry about? Especially when they refuse to put their headlights on in a blinding blizzard. Hell, they don't care if anyone sees them! It's amazing how people will drive in storms though. One storm I had to put on my emergency flashers in the whiteout and just about everybody had them on. It's the only way to avoid a collision out there sometimes? Another good idea is please do not pass me? I know damn well that if I can't see neither can you? *Grins* Thanks for the thumbs and if I missed anybody I am sure you'll let me know...lol Have a good one!

Well I wrote a tale, but somehow it disappeared? So, I will try this again? We are having more snow here today and the wind is whipping out there. When will Spring arrive in the UP? Your guess is as good as mine? I am anxious to get my fingers in the dirt and plant my flowers, but with many feet of snow out there it is impossible right now. We will be watching our river soon, because with all the snow we have; there could be a flood. Our last flood in 2002 was a dandy and our gravel road was covered with water in three places. We had to use a boat to get to the highway. I am used to living on a flood plain though. We have to get needed supplies before the water comes over the road. Then we can sit and relax until the water recedes and we can go about our daily lives again.

When I was in high school we would get school off for a week or two because of the flood. The school bus couldn't drive through the water? I remember fishing in a boat on the fields for Pike with our neighbor Otto. We would watch him spear the fish in the fields that once were fields, but now have become the river. I remember watching huge logs shoot out of the water into the air or they would hit the bottom of the bridge, as they were trying to go down the river. A once calm river, turned into a raging torrent taking everything in it's path with it. So, we will be watching in the weeks to come and I will let you all know what the scoop is; whether we will have a flood this year or not?

Today we are burning down the old cow barn. My husband was a dairy farmer for many years and they had Jersey cows here back in the 60's. The barn fell down years ago and so we are getting rid of it. The milk house is still standing yet. This was where the sterilization took place and the milk cans were kept, automatic milking machine etc.....They started out milking the cows by hand but that was a tedious chore. They had Grade A milk here years ago and they used to keep the milk cans by the highway for the truck to pick up to bring them to the dairy. Farmers sure worked hard then.

The temperature is 55 currently and the sun is shining. We are supposed to get some more snow today and tomorrow? So Spring has not quite gotten here yet. Our dog Mutti is busy carrying his various bones around the yard putting them here and there. haha He buries them until they soften-up, I think. *Grin* He has been after the squirrel that keeps annoying him up in the pine tree also. Two mallard ducks were walking around on the river ice. They were probably wondering where the hell the water went? I raked some of the yard today, did laundry, scrubbed the kitchen floor, cleaned the oven/burners etc...so it's good to get stuff done around here after we had the "dreaded plague!" haha

Hope everybody has a lovely day today and thanks for all the thumbs! Take care...
