I had one of those moments that just stops you short yesterday in the grocery store parking lot.
A woman was returning her cart to the stall and as she left her sunglasses fell out unnoticed to the ground and she almost stepped on them. I called to her and she picked her glasses up as I said to her, jokingly, "with my luck I'd have stepped on them."
She looked at me and said simply, "You keep affirming that thought and you will."
For some reason her statement stopped me short, and I thought about how often the simpliest, most innocuous things we say subtly express and reinforce our attitudes, whether in the moment or in a much deeper way.
And I've thought often about her words...and the power of the words I choose to affect me and those I come in contact with.
