I was born and raised an orphan, in a land that once was free. In a land that poured its love out on the moon. And I grew up in the shadows of your silos filled with grain, but you never helped to fill my empty spoon.
And when I was ten you murdered law with courtroom politics. And you learned to make a lie sound just like truth. But I know you better now and I don't fall for all your tricks.
And you've lost the one advantage of my youth.
You kill a black man at midnight just for talking to your daughter. Then you make his wife your mistress and you leave her without water. And the sheet you wear upon your face
is the sheet your children sleep on, at every meal you say a prayer you don't believe but still you keep on.
And your money says "In God We Trust." But it's against the law to pray in school.
You say "We beat the Russians to the moon." And I say you starved your children to do it.
You are far across the ocean in a war that is not your own. And while you're winning theirs you're gonna lose the one at home. Do you really think the only way to bring about the peace, is to sacrifice your children and kill all your enemies?
The politicians all make speeches, while the news men all take notes. And they exagerate the issues, as they shove them down our throats. Is it really up to them whether this country sinks or floats? Well I wonder who would lead us, if none of us would vote!
Well my phone is tapped and my lips are chapped, from whispering through the fence. You know every move I make, or is that just coincidence?
Well you try to make my way of life a little less like jail. If I promise to make tapes and slides and send them through the mail.

You say "All men are equal all men are brothers." Then why are the rich more equal than others?

Hey everyone! Unlike the rest of the stuff before this I didn't write this one sadly. I am not sure who the author is, but it is an awesome piece of work. So here it is.

The Power of One

I am only one man but...
There was a man who spent his life in poverty. He was born to humble parents and never traveled further than two hundred miles from his home, yet he had an impact upon mankind that has never been equaled.
His name was Jesus.

I am only one man but...
There was a man who believed that people should be free. He denied himself the many luxuries of life, even though he possessed a college degree that allowed him to practice law. Because of him, millions of his fellow countrymen were able to rid themselves of foreign colonial oppression.
His name was Gandhi.

I am only one man but...
There was a man who took to heart the words of Abraham Lincoln that "All men are created equal." His belief in civil disobedience and nonviolent social change led an entire nation to a rebirth.
His name was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I am only one man but...
There was a man who spent nineteen years in prison doing hard labor because he believed his fellow countrymen deserved equal rights. His beliefs had him branded a "traitor" and yet, despite torture and deprivation, his faith was so strong that after nineteen years of inhumane treatment, he became the president of a new, free republic.
His name is Mandela.

When I was young, I had to choose between the life of being or the life of doing. And naturally, I leapt at the latter like a trout to a fly. But remember each deed you do, each act, binds you to itself and to its consequences, and makes you act again and yet again. Then very seldom do you come upon a space, a time like this, between act and act, when you may stop and simply be. Or wonder who, after all, you are.

Sometimes I sit alone at night and wonder what's the point? Of having all these friends who in the end I'll only disapoint.
It's like being trapped in a this body that feels like a pen. My soul wants to be free from it all and I want to cash it in. I think about shooting myself in the head, and lie alone dying in my bed.
Alone, that is the best way to describe how I feel. So in the dead of night come's the Grim Reaper, my soul is what he'll steal!
I really can not see anyway this thing we call "Life" can satisfy me. And so as I steady my hand, I must follow through with what I planned.
This barrel feels cold against my stomach. I know once I pull the trigger, my mind it will plummet.
Now my stomach feels all cold and wet. I look down to see the blood oozing and yet...
I now come to realize that I am going to leave this world the same way I came in, alone and afraid.
And so as this world fades away I must say "farewell and good-day!"
