We always save the best for last. Last round it was Paris. Budapest definitely lives up to its billings as the highlight of this trip. A definite must-see is the Hungarian Parliament. If you think the exterior is impressive, wait till you are actually inside. Even though tourists like us were herded like sheep, we were speechless and could not care less about how much we paid for the entrance fee. Dillon’s Top 3 in Budapest 1. Hungarian Parliament 2. St Stephen's Basilica 3. Chain Bridge To see more, check out my photo album ! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4008&l=21692&id=1008761004

We hopped into our Mercedes B-Class (rental :p) and experienced 3 unforgettable day trips across Austrian countryside. First we went to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hallstatt via Bad Ischl, Sankt Wolfgang and Sankt Gilgen. On the second day, we drove by Nationalpark Hohe Tauern via Zell am See, Krimml, Gerlos and Zell am Ziller. Finally we traversed Ötz Valley all the way up to Obergurgl and Hochgurgl. The sceneries needless to say are simply breathtaking, jaw dropping, eye popping and … (what else can I say ? oh yes ! mind blowing..) Vienna exceeded our expectations because they were low. Salzburg met our expectations even though they were high. Salzburg presents a taste of everything Austria has to offer. From the snow capped mountains and palace on the outskirts to the fortress, churches and historically significant sites like Mirabell Gardens (The Sound of Music) and Mozart’s Birthplace, what more can you ask for ? Dillon’s Top 3 in Salzburg 1. Hellbrunn 2. Hohensalzburg Fortress 3. Untersberg To see more, check out my photo album ! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8523&l=e461a&id=1008761004

We did not expect much from Vienna. There were talks about how it pales in comparisons to Prague, Budapest and even Salzburg. We were so wrong that we vowed to revisit Vienna because we skipped many sites due to time constraint ! Dillon’s Top 3 in Vienna (for now) 1. Schloss Schonbrunn 2. Votivkirche 3. Stephansdom To see more, check out my photo album ! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8256&l=5dcbd&id=1008761004

After stalling for more than 5 years, I finally embarked on my second Europe trip this year. We were fortunate to stumble upon European East Pass which costs only a fraction of the more popular Eurail Train Pass. Eastern Europe is kind of run down but it does have its charm. Cathedrals and churches scatter across cities and towns. Dogs follow their owners without leashes like kids ! In fact they behave better than kids. :p Dillon’s Top 3 in Prague 1. St. Vitus’s Cathedral (and Prague Castle) 2. Charles Bridge 3. Church of Our Lady Before Tyn (and Old Town Square) To see more, check out my photo album ! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4006&l=01a5f&id=1008761004
