------- Only after the old man disappeared did the people in the street realize; nobody knew what he had been selling in the shop. No one, young children to old people on the street had wondered what he had been selling or wandered into his shop, even once... Some remembered going into the shop when it had first been opened thirty years ago, but only vaguely, and never what was inside. -------

------- There was a small shop at the end of the road. The owner had never missed a day of work for the past thirty or so years. "Not a single day" he would boast, as he talked to his friends in front of the shop. During workdays, weekends, holidays. He was the cornerstone of the street, the reference point where everyone else living in the street would adjust themselves to. He would live on the other end of the street and every morning, he would cross the street end to end, enter his shop and open. And when it was evening he would cross the street back, and return to his home. One day, he didn't open his shop. Life in the street was about to change... -------
