BALANCE
Ok, time to quote something directly from my mind :D
As every martial arts lover I was wandering what helps more during and before performing a fight- the equanimity or the totally rage of anger.
The unstoppable anger can make us immune for a pain, it can put our muscles at the full speed and strenght and also can discourage the opponent form procceding the struggle.
For that very moment (when we feel the presence of someone, that stands between us and our goal) we are becoming almost invincible machines, which doesn't care about itself. This hatered machine have only one aim- victory. Unfortunately machines are blind thats why even the determination or bright and clear target cannot make them see again... So if we cannot see, we are usually tripping...
And when the darkness swallows the blind man, the peaceful seer comes to the scene. The calm of mind allows us using logic and estimating our current situation. "I will hurt if I do that"... "Gap in the defense, I can attack"... "I must avoid those hits"...
In other words, equanimity give us a chance to use a full power of our skills and techniques. Many times we saw when calm-one beated angry-likes, with simplicity and the economy of the movements.
Almost everything tells us to stay calm then... but there is a third element, that supports all anger-like competitors... it is unpredictability. Strenght itself won't win with technique, but to use a technique you must do a certain actions and those actions needs a special circumstances in which they can be used...
We are angry. The rage starts. The blood is pumped into the muscles and we cannot control some of our actings... we are unpredictable even to ourselves... Calm-one want to use technique: "Piece of cake!"- she/he thinks. But there is no way to use it! "Opponent acting very strange... It is insane! What is her/his purpose of doing that?!"
The aim is clear- the win of course.
But what if we will mix two of those elements- the calm of mind and the rage of fury? What if we can keep balance in those? Estimate on cold, attack like a flame... See the gap and hit it with the full unpredictible force!
Yeah, in m opinion it is the way to success...the balance. The balance is a key to everything!
