A year goes by and still there is no word I hear from you,
There be no letters written by hand and shipped across the sea from you to me,
No smile across the face of the one I love,
Just a tender heart in the chest of a man who knows not how to express how he feels. Phone calls deep into the night mean nothing more than a casual acquaintance,
Plans to meet lead to disappointment and tears,
The promises you made soon linger into oblivion,
Resting my eyes I go to sleep dreaming of the day you will come to find me and kiss my cheek.
Slipping into a coma takes mere seconds of my time,
As you board the ship that is bound for where two lovers may unite,
The journey is long but you make it in ample time an anxious grin spread across your face, But when you see her lay against the pillow in such a somnolent state you kiss her cheek and cry warm tears for their sake.
You hold her hand laying restfully against her chest,
Close your eyes and breath her in taking one last chance to touch her skin,
Mournfully watch your love as she passes before your eyes,
Next time don't let a whole year pass by.
