Just counting the hours until we speak again
It always seems so long ago that we last spoke
When it has been only a matter of minutes or hours
No matter how much we talk I can’t get enough
Even though we talk every day
Always until it’s time to turn out the light
And even though we talk all evening
Sometimes until morning light
I never want to stop
No matter how tired I am
I have to force myself to stop talking to you
So that my mind and body my sleep
To prepare for another day
Another day of doing what I’m needed to do
Sometimes what I want to do
But mostly I want to be with you
So I sit here counting the hours until you get home
Thinking maybe there will be a day
When I’m not only waiting for your words on a screen
That maybe one day I will be waiting for that text
That text to let me know you are waiting for me
Right outside my house leaning on your new car
Waiting for me to swing open my door
Showing you that smile that is held just for you
In all the honesty I hold in me
I hope you feel this way too
Until then I count the hours till we speak again
