As some may know I am a volunteer firefighter. My company is selling Christmas trees as a fundraiser. Today our bartender received a phone call about how much we would charge to go a few minutes up the highway. Before she could be told that we wouldn't charge her she explained the rest of her story.
She knows of a family in her neighborhood with kids that is having it rough enough that they can't even afford a Christmas tree this year. She wants to stop and pay for it and have us deliver it to the address as long as we never tell why it is there or who bought it. This goes to show that yes the true Christmas spirit is still alive today even in these hard times folks.
Along with it we have a Santa suit for the Christmas party we have each year for our member's kids. So looks like tomorrow the one firefighter will be putting it on and I will be driving the truck to deliver the tree.
While you may be the one of the many that is having it extremely rough and would love to be able to help but can't there are those that are having it somewhat easier and hopefully even if it is not by spending money everyone can find a way to do their part this season and keep it going.
I do what I do as a firefighter not for glory but for love of the job and to be the one to help those when they need it most. To me this falls into that category. Thank you's are never sought out but always sincerely appreciated. But the main thing is doing what you can for others around you.
